Piano Technicians Guild
Oklahoma Chapter Minutes
February 17, 2001

Meeting started at 9:05AM and was in progress when I arrived 9:26AM.

[Location: Larsen Music?]

Ongoing discussion was about customer business practices.

Minutes were read and accepted.

Bob Scheer brought some Yamaha white keys from a C3 grand that had discoloration and explained how Yamaha took care of the problem.

The Piano Technicians Guild Journal 20-Year (1979-1999) CD-ROM set was presented and discussed.

The technical entitled, “Tuning Stability, If it won’t stay where you put it.” was presented by David Bonham and Norman Cantrell. Hammer techniques and theory were shown as well as hammer blow testing gear. Each person was asked to demonstrate their tuning technique. Of particular interest was an impact tuning lever used by Valerie Crawford which prevents the tuning pin from twisting in the pinblock when attempting to adjust the string tension.

By the end of the meeting six persons had been in attendance:
David Bonham, Valerie Crawford, Ben Davis, Keith McGavern, Bob Scheer, Norman Cantrell, Nathan Sobel.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Keith McGavern, RPT
