Piano Technicians Guild
Oklahoma Chapter Minutes
August 21, 2001

Meeting started at 8:52AM and was held at Edmond Music.

Invocation was given by Gary Bruce.

Minutes were read and accepted.

Treasurer’s report was given. Current balance as of July 31st: $1976.23.

A synopsis was given by Norman Cantrell regarding the council activities in Reno.

No old business was mentioned.

Under new business a motion to host the Texas State Association Seminar at Oklahoma City in the year 2003 was made by Gary Bruce and seconded by Bob Scheer. During the discussion of this motion, those in attendance were in agreement to pursue this event.

It was recommended to announce in the September newsletter that an official vote will be taken at the September meeting to allow the opportunity for all concerned to express their opinions/concerns. Your attendance and input is sincerely requested.

Ben Davis, Bob Scheer and Norman Cantrell shared their convention experiences with the group.

The technical _Tone Building_ was presented by Ben Davis. Initially, everyone was asked what their concept of Tone Building constitutes. Following that Ben took that information and related some experiences he was having with a particular piano.

As time progressed it was discovered that Tone Building was far more involved than just manipulating the hammers themselves. From casters to regulation to bridge pins, all can affect the final results. A loss of energy at any point in the piano can in some degree prevent a piano from realizing its full potential.

After the meeting Mike Gilliam of Edmond Music treated those remaining to a luncheon at the Dot Wo Restaurant on East 33rd. A very delicious gathering.

By the end of the meeting eight persons had been in attendance:
Ben Davis, Keith McGavern, Bob Scheer, Norman Cantrell, David & Barbara Bonham, Gary Bruce, Don Bonds.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Keith McGavern, RPT
