Piano Technicians Guild
Oklahoma Chapter Minutes
November 15, 2001

Meeting started at 8:45AM and was held at Western Hills Baptist Church.

Church secretary, Janie Martin, was introduced to the group. Harry was the custodian.

Invocation was given by David Bonham.

Minutes were read and accepted.

Under old business:
Norman gave an update to the initial progress of TSA 2003 concerning the choice of a hotel and particulars.

Under fruit business (sour grapes):
Bob mentioned Don Bonds won too many prizes at TSA. Bob also shared his $55 Protek CLP dispensing tool he purchased from Pianotek. The general cost of quality tools was also discussed.

Under new business:
Discussion was held to have a Christmas gathering at David & Barbara’s home on Friday, December 13th at 6:30PM. Each person was asked to bring a dessert.

Miscellaneous items: It was announced that Schaff Piano Supply is no longer handling Yamaha parts. Resource material for learning repairs & regulation was discussed on Barbara’s behalf. The idea for plexiglass fronts on studio size pianos was discussed.

Break.

The technical _Dealing with Friction Problems_ was presented by Bob Scheer. The patient was a Baldwin SD-10 in the church sanctuary. The technical evolved into much more than just frictional problems.

How to improve the overall performance of this particular piano became the focus of the technical. Overall, a great deal was learned about the realities of inherent weaknesses that accrue due to the lack of attention, budget, experience, etc.

By the end of the meeting seven persons had been in attendance:
Ben Davis, Keith McGavern, Bob Scheer, Gary Bruce, Don Bonds, Valerie Crawford, Rhonda Ringer, David & Barbara Bonham, Ed Hamby.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Keith McGavern, RPT
