Oklahoma Chapter Minutes
May 19, 2005

The meeting was held at Bob Scheer’s shop in Edmond, OK.

Call to order given at 8:37am by Bob Scheer.

The invocation was given by Gary Bruce.

The minutes were read, corrected and accepted.

Treasurer’s report: Current balance $3,532.92.

No newsletter report.

Announcements/Discussions:
A delegate report on the upcoming council meeting.
The Anti-Trust Laws and how they pertain to us.
Insurance/liability availability for members/chapters.
Norman Cantrell currently serves on three national committees and holds the office of TSA President.
Kent Swafford, Dale Probst, Clarence Zeches currently to be the new officers for PTG.
Claude Harding currently to be the new South Central Regional Vice President.

Old business:
The nominating committee (David Bonham, Nathan Sobel, Dave Scroggins) submitted the following slate of officers for 2005-2006: President-Bob Scheer, Vice President-David Bonham, Secretary-Nathan Sobel, Treasurer-Gary Bruce, Newsletter Editor-Barbara Bonham. A motion was made by Keith McGavern and seconded by Gary Bruce to accept this slate of officers. Discussion was held. Motion passed.

New business:
A motion was made by Norman Cantrell and seconded by Keith McGavern to purchase the liability/insurance policy that covers chapter meetings/functions. It has a $1000.00 deductible. Discussion was held. Motion passed.

Robert Overhulser was re-accepted into membership by acclamation. Welcome back, Robert.

Technicals:
There were two technical presentations. The first was by Steve Fujan, an engineer who became greatly interested in the physics of tuning a piano, ended up creating two revolutionary type tuning levers. Pictures of these levers are available at:

Several in attendance gave this newly designed lever a try. These levers will be on exhibit at the national convention in Kansas City, MO this June.

The second technical was presented by Bob Scheer concerning Vertical Hammer Filing and Voicing. He initially covered how to decide whether to file, replace or leave the original hammers alone. Then the reasons for doing each were discussed. Finally, he demonstrated various methods for filing, traveling, spacing and fitting hammers to maximize tonal responses from the piano.

Excellent presentation from both gentlemen.
